How to get the prices and stakes the results are built on. Read this before you back anything.

How to back a tip

Every tip is settled at Betfair Starting Price (SP): the WIN SP for a win tip, the PLACE SP for a place tip. To get exactly the result shown, back it on the Betfair exchange at SP (choose "Take SP" when you place the bet), on the WIN or PLACE market the tip names.

• The bookmaker price on each tip is there as a guide to where the market is. Until Betfair's SP is in, the results page uses the bookmaker price recorded just before the jump.
• Betfair charges commission on winnings, depending on your account. The results are shown before commission.

Bet close to the jump

A tip is not fixed when it first appears. Prices are re-checked every few minutes until the race jumps, and each time the chance, the edge and the stake are worked out again. A tip can change stake, or be cancelled if its price moves out of the range the rules allow.

• The safest time to bet is when the "Still on" confirmation arrives, about 5 minutes before the jump.
• Use the stake showing at the time you bet, not the one from when the tip first appeared.
• If a tip is cancelled (TIP OFF), don't back it. An SP bet can still be cancelled on Betfair before the jump.

Your jump-time reminder: Telegram

The easiest way to bet at the right moment is the SniperGPT Telegram channel (subscribers). It pings you about each tip and then confirms it just before the jump.

The channel is private. Subscribers get their own invite from the Account page: tap Get my Telegram invite, then Request to join in Telegram, and you're let in automatically. Each invite works once, for one person. If your subscription ends, you're taken out of the channel.

• About 15 minutes before the race the tip is posted as its own message: the horse, race, stake, which Betfair SP to take, and the current price.
• About 5 minutes before the jump it replies to that same message with ⏱ Still on and the stake as it stands. That's your cue to bet.
• If the stake changes it replies 🔁 STAKE NOW. If the price moves and a tip stops qualifying, it replies ❌ TIP OFF, so don't bet (or cancel). If it qualifies again, it replies ✅ BACK ON.
• Late tips arrive as a NEW TIP message. Turn on notifications for the channel so nothing slips past.

Stakes

• Stakes are in units: 1u = 1% of your betting bank. Stakes are sized to the edge, from 0.5u up to a maximum of 3u.
• Keep a bank you can afford to lose, set aside for this alone. Work out your unit from it and only change it when the bank has really moved.
• Every approach has quiet patches, and short losing runs are part of it. Stick to the stakes shown, and don't chase losses or raise stakes to win them back.

Place bets

• Place tips are settled on Betfair's PLACE market, which usually pays 3 places in fields of 8 or more and 2 places in fields of 5–7. The market says how many places it pays; bookmakers' place terms can differ.
• Late scratchings change the field. The tips are re-checked when that happens, and bookmakers may apply deductions.

Alerts and the page

• Alerts go out from about 15 minutes before a race. The page shows the latest prices each time it refreshes. Hit Refresh before you bet.
• Past results are a record, not a promise. Your own results will differ with the prices you get and when you bet.
